Box build is the place where multi-vendor coordination costs catch up with you. We have seen customers run three separate POs — harness shop, PCB house, mechanical assembler — and spend more on coordination meetings than they would have on the consolidated quote. What is included in box build versus wire harness only?+
Box build adds enclosure integration, board mounting, system-level wiring inside the box, panel-mount connector installation, and system-level functional test. Wire harness alone stops at the open-ended harness — no enclosure work.
Can you handle customer-supplied enclosures?+
Yes. Customer supplies the enclosure (often metal or plastic OEM enclosures sourced from Hammond, Polycase, etc.), VeinWire performs all internal integration. We can also source off-the-shelf enclosures on the customer's behalf.
What is the minimum order quantity?+
10 units for NPI / early production. 50-100 units for production runs. Lower quantities possible on a case-by-case basis if scope is bounded.
Do you build to UL 508A panel standards?+
Yes — UL 508A industrial control panel wiring is supported. We are not currently a UL 508A panel shop ourselves but we build to the standard's wire spacing, voltage segregation, and component derating requirements.
Can box build include PCB assembly (SMT)?+
We do not maintain SMT lines on-site. Customer supplies populated PCB or we partner with a regional SMT shop for board-level assembly. Cost and lead time vary based on board complexity and partner selection.
